We are seeking a Spatial Science Officer to contribute to our strategic purpose to plan, manage and oversee the delivery of a safe, efficient and integrated transport system that supports sustainable economic, social and environmental outcomes in Queensland.

In the role of Spatial Science Officer you will: provide the technical operation of Geographic Information Systems and technology systems; provide advice on spatial datasets, analytical tools, and mapping; deliver spatial products and services to regional and external clients and support the development of spatial applications; provide solutions to spatial science problems that satisfy client’s needs.

Accountabilities include:
• Provide specialist Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and technology, cartographic and spatial information advice to clients and management relating to the delivery of transport infrastructure.

• Acquire, process, interpret, present, maintain and validate geospatial information and databases.

• Assemble, analyse, interpret, and report on spatial data from appropriate systems, providing information through high quality mapping products or reports as required by the client.

• Operate departmental GIS software and support departmental users of GIS technology.

• Provide specialist mapping and GIS services.

• Deliver geospatial projects, products and services to meet departmental requirements.

• Develop a sound knowledge of departmental policies and procedures

• This role reports to the Senior Spatial Science Officer and has no direct reports.

Mandatory requirements:

• Minimum of a 3 year degree in Spatial Science from a recognised tertiary institution, or qualifications which in the opinion of the Head of Discipline are equivalent.

• Current holder of a ‘C’ class driver’s licence.

Desirable requirements:

• Professional certification (General or Specialist (GISP-AP)) with the Surveying and Spatial Science Institute (SSSI).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Salary: from $70,013.00 AUD up to $76,459.00 AUD per year
