David Williamson - Spatial Industry Potential

David Williamson - Spatial Industry Potential

After 18 years facilitating government energy innovation and economic development programs, David Williamson was looking for a new career and has been attracted to the potential of the spatial information industry.  David managed programs that produced large quantities of household energy usage, demographic and solar energy generation data from around Australia. Recognising that understanding and portraying the relationships between these data sets was key to effective decision making in this emerging field, David enrolled in GIS qualifications at the University of New England.
Having a background in economics, financial management and government procurement, David feels he can bring a mature, goals oriented approach to any organization who is prepared to give him an opportunity to improve his GIS skills. Having graduated recently, he is now dedicated to making a go of his new career and is looking to take on any non – federal government role in the Canberra region that can provide him practical experience in the industry. His studies have included introductory geography, surveying, environmental impact assessment and remote sensing units. He has had close working relationships with councils and experienced development approval processes through his economic development program roles.
David’s communication skills are excellent and he has a thorough understanding of government procurement and funding processes. He is a self -starter and team player whose dream job is to one day be able to use his GIS skills to help the Carlton Football club win another premiership.
David is registered with Spatial Jobs Online and can be contacted at dave.willo@bigpond.com.au or on 0432 397 584.
